Maxine allegedly quarrelled and fought with the late Assad Khan, an altercation that left the latter with serious injuries that resulted to his death on December 18, 2022 at their home in Kileleshwa
Celebrated rally driver Maxine Wahome was arraigned in court earlier today as the death probe into the death of Assad Khan continues.
Maxine was arrested on December 12 2022 after an altercation with Assad turned bloody. Assad was rushed to Nairobi Hospital the same day before being transferred to Avenue Hospital where he succumbed to injuries on December 18.
The WRC-3 winner spent two days in custody before she was released on a Ksh 100,000 cash bail after she fully agreed to cooperate with investigators.
According to state prosecutor James Gachoka, the circumstances had changed following Assad's death, and therefore urged the case to be heard in two weeks time.
"Maxine Wahome is now being investigated for murder and grievous harm. I request the matter to be mentioned in 14 days."
Assad's family is represented by prominent lawyer Danstan Omari in the case.
Not much is known about Maxine's relationship with Assad but it is rumored that the two had been seeing each other for a year.
Maxine started racing at 10 years of age after her father Jimmy Wahome, a retired rally driver inspired her to get into motocross.
She has various titles under her belt include winning the inaugural Lioness All-Women's Rally at Kasarani and winning her maiden WRC-3 appearance.
The 25-year old is also a kindergarten teacher.
According to the state prosecutor, investigations into the matter are complete and the file is now with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) who is yet to act on it.
